Dr. Covadonga Rodrigo obtained her Ph.D. in Telecommunications Engineering in1999 from the Universdad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). She was a pre-doctoral researcher at UPM and has also worked at Universidad Antonio de Nebrija. Since 1998 she has held different teaching and management positions at university level, currently being Assistant Vice Chancellor for Technologies in Study Centres and Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Languages and Systems (Lenguajes y Sistemas Informáticos) at the UNED.
Since arriving at the UNED she has researched into various topics related to the assessment and development of high quality products and systems for distance learning. For the past few years her research interests have centred on achieving accessibility and usability aspects in the whole life cycle of the elearning delivery: metadata schema for learning object repositories, accessible multimedia learning resources, accessible authoring web tools development, etc.
In December 2004 she joined the 36 Standardisation Technical Committee "Information Technologies for Learning" in AENOR (Spanish Association for Standardisation and Certification), recently co-authored the standard UNE 66181, a new Standard for Quality Management and Conformity Assessment of Virtual Learning in Spain. At the time she also joined the eXcellence working group being also an active member of the EADTU Task Force on Quality Assessment in Higher Education.
